Director of Development & Partnerships

Position Summary

The Guild of Charlotte Artists is a thriving nonprofit organization of more than 500 artists dedicated to promoting artists’ work, fostering learning, and building a vibrant creative community throughout the Charlotte region. As the Guild continues to grow, it seeks its first Part-Time Director of Development & Partnerships to provide professional leadership in advancing the organization’s strategic priorities and expanding its impact.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Director of Development & Partnerships will serve as the Guild’s primary fundraising and community outreach representative, working collaboratively with board members, committees, volunteers, community partners, and sponsors.  This individual will help to cultivate relationships that create new opportunities for artists and increase community awareness while strengthening the foundation for the Guild’s long-term financial sustainability. This is not a traditional administrative role. We are looking for someone who enjoys connecting people, cultivating partnerships, and transforming ideas into reality.

Primary Responsibilities

Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to diversify the Guild’s revenue beyond membership dues.

  • Identify, cultivate, and secure corporate sponsors, individual donors, foundations, and grant opportunities.

  • Build and maintain relationships with businesses, civic organizations, and philanthropic partners.

  • Prepare sponsorship proposals and coordinate donor recognition programs.

  • Explore new revenue-generating opportunities that support the Guild’s mission.

  • Work with the Board to establish annual fundraising goals and measure progress.

Secondary Responsibilities

Exhibition and Venue Development

  • Identify and secure new venues for member exhibitions, including corporate offices, healthcare facilities, civic buildings, financial institutions, educational institutions, hospitality venues, and other public and private spaces.

  • Develop long-term partnerships that create recurring exhibition opportunities.

  • Negotiate exhibition agreements and coordinate logistics with venue partners.

  • Collaborate with Guild committees to maximize exhibition quality, artist participation, and sales opportunities.

  • Expand the Guild’s visibility by positioning it as Charlotte’s premier organization for exhibiting local artists.

  • Increase membership value and engagement through new opportunities

  • Strengthen relationships within the arts community

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess experience in the following areas:

  • Non-profit leadership

  • Fundraising and Development

  • Corporate Sponsorships

  • Business Development

  • Community Engagement

  • Strategic Partnerships

  • Grant writing

  • Arts Administration

  • Marketing and public relations experience would be a plus

Experience working within the arts is valued, but not required. Individuals with backgrounds in nonprofit development, higher education advancement, community foundations, or business development are encouraged to apply.
