Falling Into Place - GCA Exhibit at Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery

For this upcoming show the GCA is excited to announce that Jonathan Stuhlman, Ph.D. will be the judge for the GCA’s “Falling Into Place” exhibit at Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery with an opening reception on October 4th, from 2-5pm.  Jonathan is currently the Senior Curator of American, Modern, & Contemporary Art at The Mint Museum. He previously served as the senior curator of American Art at the Mint Museum beginning in 2006. 

Please note that you must be a member of the GCA prior to submitting.  Since our memberships renew starting September 1st, you will need to renew your membership prior to making your submission.

The show details are as follows:

Dates: October 4th-November 1, 2025

Show Exhibit Coordinator: Doris Barahona-Burton and Ann Travis (gcaexhibits@gmail.com)

Show Type: This is a non-themed, juried and judged show.  Jurors will select entries for the show and all accepted artists will be notified by September 17th via email.  The judge will select 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners plus 3 judge's choice awards. There will also be a People's Choice Award given out at the closing reception.

Location: Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery (NEN), 700 North Tryon St., Charlotte, NC

Submissions: open from September 1-10, 2025. Submissions will open at 8am on the first day and close at 10pm on the last day.

Take-In: Sunday, September 28th, from 1-4pm and Monday, September 29th, from 9am-12noon

Opening reception: Saturday, October 4th, from 2-5pm

Closing reception: Saturday, November 1, 2-5pm.  This reception will include the awarding of a "People's Choice Award."

Pick-Up: Saturday, November 1, 5-6pm, or Sunday, November 2nd 1-4pm

ENTRY INFORMATION:

  • You must be a current member of GCA.

  • There is a limit of two pieces for submission.

  • All 2-D artwork must be wired with "D"-rings and wire and be ready to hang - NO SCREW EYES or SAWTOOTH HANGERS (see demo of How to Wire at https://youtu.be/0UVNN8trgAU). ).

  • All entrants must follow the Show Guidelines and Rules of Integrity of the Guild of Charlotte Artists which can be found at https://www.guildofcharlotteartists.online/resources/gca-show-guidelines-and-rules-of-integrity

  • Artwork must be available for sale.

  • Size requirements: NO LARGER than 50x50 (including frame).

  • NO substitutions will be allowed.  Only the original image submitted will be displayed.

  • Your artwork must remain in the exhibit for the full exhibition time (10/4-11/1)
