HEATHER BURNELL
Heather Burnell’s art niche is positivity. She experienced, as many people do, a "dark night of the soul," and one of the ways she worked her way back into the Light was with positivity. For years, she practiced positive thinking, didn't watch the news, onlyread self-help books, etc. When she started making art, this positivity found its way into her work. Much of her art has a positive quote or word. People tell Heather that her art makes them feel exuberant, enlivened, joyful, happy, positive, loved and seen. That is now her art mission: to help people feel positivity via her art.She was born in northern NY state, went to college and graduate school in Albany, NY, and currently lives in Charlotte, NC. She has always considered herself creative but did not consider herself artistic until she took a mixed media art class. The class transformed the way she saw herself, and she passionately dove into mixed media. She continues to take online and in-person art classes, but her education and career, prior to art, was in technology.
SUSAN MOORE
Susan was born and raised in Charlotte. When she was 12, she spent a weekend with an older neighbor who was an artist. She gave Susan a set of acrylic paints and taught her how to paint flowers on a bucket. She was hooked, and for the next few years painted on paper, wood, canvas - even rocks. With the exception of a semester art class in high school and a very boring "Art 101" in college, she is self taught. She has worked with Andy Braitman, Jeremy Sams, Dottie Leatherwood and others through the years to hone her skills. She paints landscapes, many en plein air, urban scapes, botanicals and abstracts in acrylic, oil, oil and cold wax and mixed media.Susan is a member of The Guild of Charlotte Artists, and has served on the Board for the past 3 years as the Show and Exhibits Chair. She has organized and coordinated over 15 shows and helped add new venues including Myers Park United Methodist Church's Hope Gallery and the Mint Museum Uptown.
